We have increased the size of the Source field in the Contacts table and the Accounts table in v2.8. In order to implement this change in an existing installation, you will need to edit any screen designs for the Contact and Account window that contain the Source field in order for the change to take affect. To do this, in the Admin Center, Contact Management, Contact Settings or Account Settings, go to Field Views and select a view that contains the Source field. Click the Deisgn button. Select the Source field on the screen design. In the properties window on the right, open the drop down list for Field and reselect the Source Field. Save the screen design and close. Close the open Contact or Account window and reopen. The source field will now allow 50 characters.
